From casual to elegant, intimate to grand, Parties of Note offer you the chance to gather in some of Greater Cincinnati's greatest homes and establishments to enjoy a variety of themed parties throughout the year. Parties are now on sale! Parties sell out quickly, so make your reservations early. Call 513.793.6469. 2009-2010 Season Julie Clark: A Living Legend of Aviation Captain Julie E. Clark, Northwest Airlines (retired), will speak about her compelling life adventure inspired by her father, Captain Ernie Clark, to become an airline captain. Julie's story began with the tragic death of both of her parents when she was just 16 years old. Determined to let nothing stop her, Julie accomplished her dream of becoming an airline pilot in the 1970's era of the "men's club", when women weren't accepted in aviation. She simultaneously became one of North America's best-known aerobatic air show performers. In 2005, Julie was named one of the 70 original "Living Legends of Aviation" along with Test Pilot Pioneer Chuck Yeager, Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, and Actors/Pilots Harrison Ford and Morgan Freeman.
Jail House Lunch and tour Go to Jail, Do Not Collect $200! Here’s your chance to attend lunch in the most interesting of surroundings—the Hamilton County Jail. Lunch will be followed by a jailhouse tour, which is sure to remind one and all of the attraction of living life on the straight and narrow.
Potluck Picnic with CSO Musicians Just before our talented CSO musicians break for their summer vacations, they are treating you to yet another aspect of their creative talents! Join CSO musicians for a picnic at Sharon Woods as they share some of their homemade appetizers, side dishes, and desserts with you. The Council Bluff Shelterhouse will provide any needed shade/cover during our picnic feasting. This is a great opportunity to get to know the musicians and for the musicians to get to know you! In addition, you may wish to participate in or watch a game of horseshoes or volleyball. Nature trails abound in the park’s 730 acres and the near-by Nature Center offers some additional insights about the terrain and its environs. You may also wish to come early or stay late to enjoy paddle boating on Sharon Lake or a tour of the Heritage Village Museum depicting 19th century life in southwestern Ohio. (Fees for paddle boats or museum tours are not included).
16th Annual Boat Ride to Riverbend The Friends of the Pops invite you to join them for a cruise to the Rodgers & Hammerstein Spectacular concert aboard the BB Riverboat, The River Queen. Savor a summer buffet as you cruise along the Ohio River to Riverbend. On the return trip, enjoy desserts and coffee with special guests Erich Kunzel and the starring vocalists from the evening’s concert. The boat departs 30 minutes after the concert and arrives at Newport Landing by 12:30 AM. Cash bar available. Seating is limited, so make your reservations and purchase concert tickets through the box office at 513-381-3300 or at the Preview Party.

Riverfest 2009 Viewing the WEBN fireworks from the lovely penthouse of Alberta and Maurice Marsh will spoil you for all future fireworks events! You’ll have a full perspective of all the action on the Ohio River and both riverbanks as everyone moves into position for this annual festival marking the end of summer. While crowds make their way to the riverfront, you’ll enjoy the setting sun and a delicious summer buffet with your gracious hosts. The fireworks, seen from this wonderful vista, make this occasion absolutely awesome! If you plan to drive to Adam’s Crossing, you’ll be provided instructions so right away you can make your own parking reservations in a lot close to the building. Be sure to bring your camera so you can share this experience again after Riverfest 2009 comes to an end.

Wine Hunting Lodge Party If hunting down a decent wine has left you at your wits end in the past then this event is for you! Your hosts David and Jan Lazarus and Vanessa White will present a delicious pairing of wines and hors d’oeuvres that will show you that navigating the world of wine doesn’t require camouflage gear. Enjoy a unique twist on a hunting party as you sample fine wines and delectable light bites on a late summer afternoon. This tasteful adventure will take place at the former hunting lodge for the Gamble family of Procter & Gamble.
Saying Goodbye to Summer On an-autumn evening at the Osborn home in Indian Hill, enjoy cocktails and dinner both indoors and out on the deck overlooking a ravine full of flora and fauna. Your spirits will soar as you listen to Julie Spangler, Cincinnati POPS pianist, as she plays wonderful melodies in her inimitable style.
Monarch butterflies are on their way to Mexico, but you may spot one or two in this butterfly-friendly garden surrounding Sandra Gross and John Hutton's l'art moderne, titanium-clad hideaway in Indian Hill. To help wing those butterflies on their way, join musicians from Cincinnati and beyond, including special guest Kristjan Järvi, as they look forward to the CSO's "Latin Nights" Oct. 2 and 3 at Music Hall. The concerts, to be led by Järvi (brother of CSO music director Paavo Järvi), will feature Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla's Concerto for Bandoneon (the Argentine accordion) performed by bandoneon virtuoso Carel Kraayenhof.

Brats, Beans & Brass …. Don your lederhosen or dirndls (casual dress is also just fine) for this traditional Oktoberfest in the Mulhauser Barn. The barn was the original home of the Windisch-Muhlhauser Brewing Co. Built in 1881, and recently relocated to Beckett Park, this timber-frame barn is one of the few of its kind remaining.
Spring Grove “Leaf’s and Reliefs” Guided Tour & Champagne Brunch Journey (via tram) from everyday concerns into the world of Spring Grove’s most historic monuments with the beautiful carvings which make them unique. Special attention will be paid to the symbols of nature incorporated into the monuments and what they meant to the lives of the fascinating people who are now “permanent residents” of Cincinnati’s largest landmark. We will meet the “Allegorical Female Mourning Figures” who provide an atmosphere of mystery and great allure to their monuments. Only a little walking will be necessary as you are guided by Docent Sandy Cohan and Spring Grove historian Phil Nuxhall. Following the one-hour tour, the group will drive approximately one minute to Sandy’s elegant Clifton townhome for brunch.

Hands-on demonstrations, refreshments and light hors d'oeuvres in a special little shop that is home to the florist of choice for many of Cincinnati's most beautiful dinner parties and weddings.
Party Number 24 Have you always wondered how bakers turn out all those beautiful wedding cakes, doughnuts, rolls and other yummy morsels that make you want to gobble them down? Page Busken will show you his wares and how they are made. You’ll see first hand just what the bakers are doing in anticipation of the morning rush for goodies. After the tour, you will receive a sample of the wares and also fill a box to take home! What could be sweeter?
South American Red Wines and Small Courses Arrive at the Flaherty/Myers home adjoining the Blue Ash golf course in Evendale for some sparkling wine and great music by a CSO woodwind quintet.. Then enjoy a tasting of red wines and characteristic foods from the slopes of the Andes in Argentina and Chile. Wine professional Kurt Huffman will moderate the tasting, and your hosts will create the food courses. By the end of the party, you’ll have a more up-to-date understanding of Argentine and Chilean wines just time in for holiday entertaining and gift-giving.
In-House Concert XIII The ever-gracious Fleischmanns are once again welcoming you to their home!!! You will be treated to a lovely evening in a beautiful setting. Richard Johnson and Friends will provide their great musicianship and the Fleischmanns will offer their warm and inviting home as the stage. After the concert, you will indulge in Beth O'Leary's always-delicious buffet supper.

A Jolly Ollie Christmas II There will be holly and most importantly Ollie (from Ollie’s Trolley) with great food everywhere as we celebrate the second Christmas in our new home. Jazz pianist Pat Kelly will be playing a Charlie Brown Christmas as well as other jazz and traditional Christmas carols on the Weber duo-art grand. Your hosts Dee and Tom Stegman will delight you with wonderful food, libations, and insights into their unique collection, featuring more than 25 rare cars from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and beyond. On display will be dream cars, such as Lamborghinis and Ferraris, including the 212 Export Vignale Cabriole (which took Best of Show GT Car at this year’s Cavallino Classic XVIII in Palm Beach). In addition CSO musicians will add their own extraordinary cache to this event. This may be the most fun you've ever had in a "garage"!
When the Saints Go Marching In Let the good times roll on Fat Tuesday 2010 as your hosts, Marilyn and E.P. Harris, entertain you with a casual Mardi Gras Supper featuring traditional New Orleans cuisine topped with a finale of a flaming dessert. This party will include a tour of the historic Clifton Gaslight District home of the Harrises. "Pine Ridge", the unique Spanish Mission house, was built in 1904 by well-known Cincinnati artist, John Hauser, to become his studio as well as his residence.

An Introduction to the Mighty Wurlitzer Come to the 1875 family home of Ron Wehmeier and enjoy majestic music on his massive four-manual, 37-rank Wurlitzer pipe organ. Installed in a 35' by 70' music room, this is one of the largest, finest instruments of its kind in the world. Also enjoy Ron's collection of vintage player grand pianos and antique collection. Parking is available in the Jehovah's Witnesses Church at the foot of the driveway.
Take Me to the River Enjoy a fascinating view of the Ohio River from the new home of Jim and Vivian Schwab as river boats, barges and river enthusiasts travel this spectacular waterway that defines our city. There is nothing like the backdrop of the river to the blooming flowers and trees along the banks of the Ohio.
Historic Wiedemann Hill Mansion Enjoy the historic Wiedemann Hill Mansion as you listen to music from Rebecca and Dan Culhan followed by delicious food prepared by Jean Robert de Cavel. Walk outside and enjoy the incredible view of the Cincinnati skyline from the front porch. Located in Newport, the Wiedemann Hill Mansion was designed by the famous Cincinnati architect Samuel Hannaford , who also designed Music Hall and City Hall. This historic home, built in 1894, has been restored with an impeccable amount of attention to detail by its current owners.

Gone Fishin’ Here’s an event tailor made for fathers (and mom, too, if they’d like!) to have some quality time with their children in that wonderful pastime of fishing. You and other family members of all ages and fishing skills can fish and pick up pointers for a summer-full of additional fishing outings. You are welcome to bring your own fishing gear, but there will be park people there, with poles and bait, to help with rods and hooking bait. Recommended for kids of all ages, from age 3 to 103.
