Piotr Anderszewski, piano
Since coming to public attention at the 1990 Leeds Piano Competition, the Polish-Hungarian pianist Piotr Anderszewski has become one of the most widely regarded pianists of his generation. In April 2002 he was awarded the prestigious Gilmore Artist Prize and hailed by the Gilmore advisory panel as “truly extraordinary.” His prizes and awards also include the Szymanowski Prize in 1999 and the Royal Philharmonic Society’s “Best Instrumentalist 2000” prize.

Mr. Anderszewski’s 2005-06 season includes a recital tour of Japan and appearances with the London Symphony Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Philharmonia. His U.S. schedule includes concerts with the symphony orchestras of Boston, Chicago and Houston. The 2005-06 season also marks the beginning of Mr. Anderszewski’s play/direct collaboration with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, in which he will perform extensively with the SCO and record a disc of Mozart piano concerti.

In recent seasons Mr. Anderszewski has performed with the Berlin Philharmonic, Lausanne Chamber Orchestra and in recital in Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris and Zankel Hall in New York. He also performed at the Gilmore Keyboard Festival in Michigan during his four years as Gilmore laureate.

Piotr Anderszewski is an exclusive Virgin Classics recording artist. His first release on that label was Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations, which was awarded a Diapason d’or. His recordings also include a Grammy-nominated CD of Bach Partitas and a disc of Mozart piano concerti, which was nominated for a Gramophone award. His recording of solo pieces by Szymanowski was released in May 2005 and earned another Grammy nomination.

Mr. Anderszewski made his Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra debut with Paavo Järvi in March 2003.
