Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Expands Global Presence Through New IDAGIO Streaming Partnership

Full-Length CSO Concerts and Digital Singles Are Now Available to Stream on IDAGIO’s Global Concert Hall

CINCINNATI, OH, USA (21 October 2022)—The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and IDAGIO, the world’s leading audio and video classical streaming platform, will join forces to launch a new series of full-length digital concerts and digital singles on IDAGIO’s Global Concert Hall. Five full-length CSO concerts and three digital singles are now available to view on the IDAGIO platform.

Acclaimed conductors and soloists featured with the CSO on IDAGIO include Music Director Louis Langrée, CSO Creative Partner Matthias Pintscher, CSO Concertmaster Stefani Matsuo, CSO Principal Oboe Dwight Parry, and special guest clarinetist Anthony McGill, violinists Leila Josefowicz and Jennifer Koh, pianist Drew Petersen, the instrumental ensemble Eighth Blackbird, and the May Festival Chorus directed by Robert Porco. Programs include world premiere performances of Guillaume Connesson’s oboe concerto Les belles heures (“The Beautiful Hours”), Kinds of KingsNine Mothers, and Matthias Pintscher’s Assonanza for solo violin and orchestra.

The new partnership builds upon the CSO’s foundation of digital content that was catalyzed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Among the first orchestras in the United States to stream concerts in 2020, the CSO made a significant commitment to digital innovation during the pandemic and has continued to produce and stream full-length concerts, reaching over 200 countries and nearly two million viewers worldwide. This new partnership with IDAGIO will dramatically expand the CSO’s digital footprint in the global community.

Music Director Louis Langrée leads the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in the world premiere of an oboe concerto by French composer Guillaume Connesson, written for the Principal Oboe Dwight Parry, and Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2.

The world premiere of the CSO co-commissioned Les belles heures by Guillaume Connesson was made possible by Ann and Harry Santen.

Violinist Jennifer Koh and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra led by Music Director Louis Langrée premieres Missy Mazzoli’s Violin Concerto (Procession), written for Jennifer Koh. The May Festival Chorus, directed by Robert Porco, joins the CSO for Mozart’s Mass in C Minor, Great Mass.

The appearance of the May Festival Chorus was made possible by a generous gift from the Nancy & Steve Donovan Fund for Chorus and Orchestra. The CSO co-commission of Missy Mazzoli’s Violin Concerto was made possible by the Frank and Mary Bergstein Fund for Musical Excellence & Connie Bergstein Dow and Buzz Dow.

The instrumental ensemble Eighth Blackbird joins the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Louis Langrée for the world premiere of Nine Mothers from Kinds of Kings, a U.S.-based composer collective amplifying and advocating for underrepresented voices. A new fanfare by Wynton Marsalis features the CSO’s brass section, and Berlioz’ Symphonie fantastique closes the program.

The CSO co-commission of Herald, Holler and Hallelujah! by Wynton Marsalis was made possible by a generous gift from James and Linda Miller.
