With a storied tradition that dates back 128 years, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s finest and most versatile ensembles. Currently led by Louis Langrée, the Orchestra’s remarkable roster of past music directors includes Leopold Stokowski, Fritz Reiner, and Paavo Järvi. Matthias Pintscher is the Orchestra’s Creative Partner, and previous artistic partners have included Lang Lang, Philip Glass, Branford Marsalis and Jennifer Higdon. The Orchestra also performs as the Cincinnati Pops, founded by Erich Kunzel in 1977 and currently led by John Morris Russell, with Damon Gupton serving as the Pops’ Principal Guest Conductor.

The CSO is a thriving, dynamic orchestra, one of only 16 full-time orchestras in the United States, situated in the heart of a city on the rise. This has taken nothing short of tenacity, passion, and relentless commitment to artistry in service to its community. From commissioning and premiering new music, to innovative initiatives like CSO Proof, the Orchestra has – and always will – seek to be bold.

We represent our city with pride through international tours, digital broadcasts, and recordings that have sold 10 million copies around the world, spreading the joy of music on a global scale.

We are changing the face of American orchestras through our partnerships and collaborations, such as the CSO/CCM Diversity Fellowship, contributing at every level to serving our community, and elevating Cincinnati’s vibrant cultural scene.

As we strive to become America’s most relevant orchestra, we look forward to partnering with the next Music Director to propel us into the future.
