The Multicultural Awareness Council (MAC) is a group of dedicated community volunteers with a passion for increasing diversity in the arts. MAC supports the CSO’s mission to seek and share inspiration with the Greater Cincinnati community by supporting initiatives that focus on engagement with Black and Latine communities.
For more than 30 years, MAC has helped the CSO broaden its reach to new and diverse audiences through concerts and events that amplify Black and Latine artists and composers including programs such as Classical Roots, MAC Concert Series (formerly called the MAC Open Door concerts and the Basic Black Series), Nouveau and the Norman E. Johns Chair Awards.

MAC 30 Years and Counting!
With the leadership of African-American Board members Dr. Lee Etta Powell and Earnest James, a committee formed to create the CSO Multicultural Awareness Council in 1989. For the past three decades volunteers have contributed to relationship building, community engagement and education efforts.
