IDEA SERIES

The CSO’s Fifth Third Foundation IDEA Series highlights three Orchestra initiatives that promote Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access. Together, the programs celebrate Black and African American artistry, meet the demand for historically underrepresented talent in the orchestra industry, and meet communities where they are with programming that authentically represents them. CLASSICAL ROOTS

For nearly two decades Classical Roots has been a Cincinnati community staple. What started as a small concert series has grown into a diverse community of music lovers united in celebration of the rich legacy of African American music. Classical Roots connects people of different backgrounds and experiences through community engagement events, educational concerts and the MAC Music Innovator program.

MAC MUSIC INNOVATOR

The MAC Music Innovator program is a year-long music residency that highlights Black classical musicians who embody artistry, innovation and a passion for education and community engagement. Supported by the Multicultural Awareness Council, the MAC Music Innovator works closely with the CSO staff and community partners to organize workshops, masterclasses and chamber music performances in schools and throughout the community. The Residency culminates with a final concert featuring members of the CSO.
