- Guest cellist Alisa Weilerstein is the winner of a MacArthur Foundation Genius Grant. She first picked up a makeshift instrument at age 2 1/2 when her grandmother handed her a cello made out of a Rice Krispies cereal box.
- Matthias Pintscher conducts his own Un despertar ("An Awakening"), a tender work written for her. Weilerstein is a champion of new music like Pintscher's.
