CSO Creative Partner Matthias Pintscher and pianist Inon Barnatan return to Music Hall for a special collaboration with the CSO. The CSO’s own Henrik Heide brings the Aello (‘harpy’) character to life in Olga Neuwirth’s flute concerto, while Pintscher’s Nur (“Fire”) explores the transformative power of fire. A rare U.S. performance of Lachenmann’s Tableau studies “non-music, which is again music” and Scriabin’s sublime Poème de l’extase close out the program.
Preceding the performance in the Music Hall Foyer is Jay Schwartz’s Music for Autosonic Gongs, an installation for 8 electro-acoustically controlled tam-tams.

In collaboration with the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center, CSO Creative Partner Matthias Pintscher and Jay Schwartz, installation artist of Music for Autosonic Gongs presented at Music Hall OCT 1-3, discuss their personal histories, influences and inspiration through the lens of Judaism.
In this unique installation from artist Jay Schwartz, experience a sound world specific to the Foyer of Music Hall. A system of gongs respond without touch to electronic impulses and yield inherent sounds ranging from the very low to intense infra-sonics.
CSO Musicians deliver a one-of-a-kind chamber music performance at the breathtaking Plum Street Temple.
