2021 marks the 200th anniversary of Jewish community life in the city of Cincinnati, which formally began with the founding of Chestnut Street Cemetery, just two blocks from Music Hall. The Jewish community and the City of Cincinnati is commemorating this significant milestone through community celebrations throughout the year—including two special CSO performances and Creative Conversation (details below). Jewish Culture & Inspiration
In collaboration with the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center, CSO Creative Partner Matthias Pintscher and Jay Schwartz, installation artist of Music for Autosonic Gongs presented at Music Hall OCT 1-3, discuss their personal histories, influences and inspiration through the lens of Judaism.
Music for Autosonic Gongs
In this unique installation from artist Jay Schwartz, experience a sound world specific to the Foyer of Music Hall. A system of gongs respond without touch to electronic impulses and yield inherent sounds ranging from the very low to intense infra-sonics. This event is free and open to the public from October 1-3, 2021.

CSO Creative Partner Matthias Pintscher leads a program by European composers whose music reflects on their relationships to the world around them, including meditations on fire, myth, sound, and passion.
