The CSO wants to get to know you in order to support and provide opportunities for learning and collaboration. Our events and continuing education opportunities are intended to engage and inspire teachers with relevant topics, applicable learning and fun. Through our free virtual programming, workshops, events and network communication, we hope to build a long-lasting relationship with the educators in the region.

CSO Music Educator Award

This award recognizes two K-12 music educators for their excellence in the field and includes $250 in scholarship for Professional Development.

The awarded music educator demonstrates:

Actions to address challenges created from changing circumstances in the previous school year (2020-2021).

Dedication to the growth of all students in the classroom.

Establishing an inclusive and safe environment for students.

Inspiring creativity and music learning through unique lessons, experiences and/or projects.

 

Upcoming Educator Events

Our Educator Workshops are always free and eligible for CEUs. We develop workshops to address topics of interest as indicated by educator feedback and suggestion. Additional Educator events are planned throughout the year to stay in touch with the CSO.

CSO Learning Programs

Both in-person and virtual programming are available to bring the CSO to your classroom anytime, anywhere. Find the program that fits your students and learning format in the options below. For virtual content, register for the Education Media Portal beginning September 13, 2021 to view digital performances from both Musicians in Schools and the Young People's Concerts. 

Register Sound Discoveries

Virtual Sound Discoveries

Recommended for grades K-6 and possible for in-classroom use, virtual and/or asynchronous use. Learn more. Our in-person Sound Discoveries program is for select partner residency schools. 

  • Four learning modules with twelve videos each: Science & Music, Math & Music, ELA & Music, General Music
  • 10 minute lesson videos led by Teaching Artist Liz Wu
  • New lessons coming quarterly in 2021-2022
  • FREE!
  • Supplies delivery available for local schools

Young People's Concerts

Recommended for grades K-12 and available to enjoy in-person at Music Hall or virtually through pre-recorded performances. Learn More.

  • 30-60 educational orchestra performances
  • Three recommended grade brackets: K-3, 3-6, 5+
  • Curriculum materials available for preparation and guidance
  • Ticketing and bus funding assistance available for schools attending in-person

Musicians in Schools

Recommended for grades K-6, schedule an in-person chamber performance or register for the Education Media Portal to view our pre-recorded chamber performances. 

Recommended for grades 6-12, arrange in-person or virtual coaching with CSO musicians.

Advocacy

The CSO, through membership in the League of American Orchestras and the Greater Cincinnati Alliance for Arts Education (affiliate of the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education), works to advocate for continued access and support to arts education for students in Ohio.

As part of the GCAAE's advocacy efforts, we are collecting belief statements for arts education to be shared as an advocacy tool with state representatives. To share why you value the arts in Ohio, complete the belief statement form below.
