CSYO Philharmonic Orchestra
Coleridge-Taylor’s fantasy on African culture inspired by a dance is the strong concert opener and sets the theme for the rest of the concert: the idea of home, whether it’s Smetana’s ode to his country, Liszt’s exploration of his home culture, or it’s simply a nostalgic fernweh about a home you’ve never been to, as was the case of Coleridge-Taylor’s.
